The scene shows a woman with two small children among pieces of luggage lying on the ground within the camp compound. Standing behind her is Herbert Klemm, desk officer in the 'Jew Section' of the Gestapo. Probably this is Johanna Saslawski with her four-year-old daughter Rita. The girl is pushing a doll's pram. Her friend Ingeborg Liebe is carrying a doll in her arms. Mrs Saslawski walks past the camera carrying an enamelled pot in her hand. The children follow her. Little Rita gazes curiously at the camera. The ground is wet and muddy from the rain. The pieces of luggage lie scattered about in the mire. Suitcases labelled 'Käte Sara Voss' and 'Greub' are visible. Käte Voss was the widow of the 'Aryan' former director of the public insurance institute of the savings banks in Saxony. Jenny Greub worked as a cook in the Hellerberg camp. Mrs Voss and the Saslawski, Liebe and Greub families were probably all murdered immediately after their arrival in Auschwitz-Birkenau.
